With female participation in Mountain Bike Racing [MTB] on the rise, we have launched the #SheUntamed initiative ahead of the 17th edition of the 2020 Absa Cape Epic taking place from 15 – 22 March 2020. This initiative seeks to encourage and drive an even greater level of interest and female participation within the MTB community.
The Absa #SheUntamed initiative will offer unprecedented opportunities for women who are living an active lifestyle, passionate about MTB, want to ‘show their brave’ and are ready for the challenge, through one of the world’s toughest MTB races.
The Absa Cape Epic will provide the platform where Absa will dedicate a session of the 2020 Epic Trippers programme exclusively to 45 female participants, giving them the opportunity to experience the event and acquaint themselves with other strong, ambitious female cyclists.
Epic Trippers
Epic Trippers is a programme that provides riders with the opportunity to experience the Absa Cape Epic from a unique perspective; allows them to explore areas that the race visits and enjoy some of the country’s best trails, whilst watching the world’s best mountain bikers in action.
#SheUntamed Ambassadors
In the lead up to the 2020 Absa Cape Epic, Absa has partnered with well-known adventurers, athletes and cyclists: Letshego Zulu, Nicole Capper and Phathokuhle Zondi, to amplify the #SheUntamed initiative in their respective communities. Zulu, Capper and Zondi, who took part in the recent Team Absa Training Camp in Clarens, will participate in the 45-strong women’s-only Epic Trippers session at this year’s Absa Cape Epic. This will include a more female focused session based on their needs and requirements through the aid of mentorship, relationships and guidance.
